Ohio criminal records may be obtained either through the State of Ohio sponsored web sites or through private companies. The State of Ohio site is http://www.drc.state.oh.us/OffenderSearch/Search.aspx. From this cite you may access information about the agency’s policies: administrative rules and the Department of Rehabilitation and Correction (DRC) policies. Press releases and news clips are accessible about current and past legislation and inmates. The site includes a state map of all the Ohio correctional institutions.
From this cite you may search for a particular offender by including the following information: the offenders first and last name, the county where the crime was committed, the county where the offender resided, his status (whether he is still incarcerated, under supervision or at large), his next parole board hearing date or his number. His number will consist of either the letter “A” or “R” for a male prisoner followed by a six-digit number. (The letter “W” is used for a female prisoner.)
A most wanted list is may be accessed with the person’s name, number, date of birth, crime, sentence and the location and date of his escape. A list those who have violated their parole along with their offenses may also be accessed.
