To learn about Ohio sex offenders, visit eSORN, Electronic Sex Offender Registration and Notification at http://www.esorn.ag.state.oh.us/Secured/p1.aspx.  eSORN is a premiere program of the Attorney General’s office that locates and tracks all registered offenders in Ohio.  If you choose, you may receive automated messages when a sex offender moves near your neighborhood, work, children’s school or day care.  You will also be able to give tips about sex offenders.  This web site also has a “Most Wanted” list of offenders who have not registered.


eSORN is connected to all Ohio county sheriff’s offices, correctional institutions, and record offices of the Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections.  Therefore law enforcement official only have to add information to and search one data base to have all the information on registered Ohio sex offenders.

 


This web site also contains legal information about ESORN.  Each registered offender must prove the sheriff in the county he is residing his name, address and classification of his convicted offense(s).  He must also have his photo and fingerprints taken.  Convicted sex offenders are not allowed to live closer than 1,000 feet of a school, preschool, or daycare.  The county prosecutor has the authority to evict offenders living within this distance.


ESORN lists recently released offenders with their name, address, including a map, a physical description and list of offenses.  When available a photo is included.  There is a link to all 88 sheriff offices with the sheriff’s name phone number and web and ESORN addresses.  You may search for a registered offender in you neighborhood by typing in one or more of the following his first and last name, the county, school district or zip code.  You may also obtain a map of his location.
